How to install WinDi-IDM, WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch

o These programs are guaranteed AdWare and SpyWare FREE.  o

WinDi-IDM, WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch are multi-user and multi-account applications that can be installed within a network.
However, they can also be installed as a stand-alone solution for one user.

If these programs are installed in an office for several users, you don't need to dedicate a PC for this task, but one of the users'PC will be considered as a gateway (running WINDI-MT and WSL-BATCH) communicating with our linguistic cluster. The other users'PCs will only run WinDi-IDM allowing them to work with this application.

In a network, both programs need to access shared directories where jobs in queue and done jobs will be saved.

Here are the three main screens of these applications (WinDi-IDM, WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch on the right).

WinDi - Internet Desktop Manager     WinDi - Internet Desktop Manager     WinDi Batch Process

This linguistic solution consists in 4 programs named as follows :

WinDi-IDM.EXE,   WinDI_MT.EXE,   WD_LOAD.EXE,   WSL_BATCH.EXE.

Where :

WinDi-IDM.EXE is the user interface. It is a multi-window browser (it requires Internet Explorer 5 or above to run).

WINDI_MT.EXE is the database program of already translated sentences (see WSL_BATCH.EXE)

WD_LOAD.EXE is the loader of WSL_BATCH.EXE. WD_LOAD.EXE will run as a watchdog for WSL_BATCH.EXE, its function is to supervise the batch process.

WSL_BATCH.EXE is the program that will communicate in 'background' with our linguistic cluster. Its function is to retrieve linguistic data and to make the translations available.

Remark: There are different ways to guarantee a non-stop functioning of the translation process which could last up to several hours. We have chosen the 'watchdog' solution using a loader (WD-LOAD.EXE) which is responsible for the uninterrupted running of the process (executed by WSL_BATCH.EXE).
This is due to the fact that all these programs work through the Internet, communication problems may arise from time to time and we have developed our solution accordingly.

Installing WinDi-IDM, WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch as a stand-alone application

We remind you that you must have a subscription to our services to be able to use these programs.
This installation is very easy to do after the download of the files (see below).

You can download either a ZIP file or an autoextractible EXE file. Copy one of these files in a directory of your choice as for example :

C:\WINDI

You must extract or execute the dowloaded file in the defined directory.

After that, just start WinDi-IDM.EXE. The subdirectory creation is automatic and you will be able to start working immediately with this tool. WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch are available on the 3rd tabsheet, click on it and if you are on-line, you will get the service access page where you will be asked to enter your WinDi User ID and Password. If you click on the login button, WinDi-IDM will automatically launch WD_LOAD.EXE, WINDI_MT.EXE and WSL_BATCH.EXE. These 3 programs will be immediately minimized in the Windows task bar. DO NOT stop them until you have finished to work with WinDi-IDM, otherwise no process will run.

If you access the Internet via a Proxy, you must configure WSL-Batch with your proxy parameters and password (see screen above).

If you use a Firewall, you must allow WSL-Batch to access the Internet.

Installing WinDi-IDM, WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch as a network application

We remind you that you must have a subscription to our services to be able to use these programs.
This installation is very easy to do after the download of the files (see below).

You can download either a ZIP file or an autoextractible EXE file.

In a network, WINDI_MT.EXE and WSL_BATCH.EXE will run independently from WinDi-IDM via a shared directory on a server. Under this mode, both programs must be told where this shared directory is located. This is done by a configuration file. This file must exist as well on the user side (WinDi-IDM.EXE) as on the gateway side (WINDI_MT.EXE,WSL_BATCH.EXE). This configuration file is named :

WSL_BATCH_CFG.DEF

This text file must contain 3 path description lines as follows :

JOB_PATH=x:\..\WSL-Batch\JOBS\
DONE_JOB_PATH=x:\..\WSL-Batch\JOBS\DONE_JOBS\
FILE_JOB_PATH=x:\..\WSL-Batch\JOBS\RESULT_FILES\

Where x:\..\ is something like \\My_Server_Name\Disk_Name\... according to your network configuration.
You MUST respect this syntax or both applications will NOT understand the paths. Do NOT forget to add the '\' characters at the end of each line. If possible avoid long paths.
Here follows an example of this file :

JOB_PATH=\\srv1\C\WSL-BATCH\JOBS\
FILE_JOB_PATH=\\srv1\C\WSL-BATCH\JOBS\RESULT_FILES\
DONE_JOB_PATH=\\srv1\C\WSL-BATCH\JOBS\DONE_JOBS\

IMPORTANT REMARK: These 3 directories must be created manually (contrarily to the stand-alone installation where it is automatic).

For more information about Windows Disk Sharing, we invite you to read the Windows documentation.

When you have defined the directory shared by the 3 programs, install/copy WinDi-IDM.EXE and the WSL_BATCH_CFG.DEF configuration file in a directory on each user PC and install/copy WINDI_MT.EXE, WD_LOAD.EXE, WSL_BATCH.EXE and the same WSL_BATCH_CFG.DEF configuration file in a PC in your network that will run as a Gateway communicating with our Linguistic cluster each time it is necessary (user requests).

On the gateway PC, we invite you to add WD_LOAD.EXE and WINDI_MT.EXE in the PC startup in order to always start WinDi-MT and WSL-Batch at every PC-boot.

If you access the Internet via a Proxy, you must configure WSL-Batch with your proxy parameters and password (see screen above).

If you use a Firewall, you must allow WSL-Batch to access the Internet.

VERY IMPORTANT REMARKS: In a network installation NEVER copy WSL_BATCH.EXE in the same directory where you installed WinDi-IDM.EXE on the user side, otherwise WinDi-IDM.EXE will 'think' you are in a stand-alone environment!

On the gateway side, you must run WD_LOAD.EXE and WINDI_MT.EXE at every startup as explained above.
